Lawful open-source intelligence

Counterparties, ownership structures, assets and timelines rebuilt from public record — registries, court and land records, filings, sanctions data. Every assertion is traced to a document that exists; the gaps are named rather than filled.

What you get. A dossier with a source line against every fact, a chronology that can be handed to a court, and an explicit list of what could not be established.

Precedent. Cicero broke Verres not with oratory but with the provincial record: accounts, tax registers, and the men who had kept them. He arrived holding the documents, and the defence abandoned the case before the second speech was ever delivered.

Government and regulator contact

Before a ministry or supervisory body, framing and sequence decide as much as merits. We prepare the position, the evidence pack and the order of approach — which office is addressed, in which order, and what each is given.

What you get. A submission ready to file, a briefing note for whoever signs it, and a sequence of approach with the fallback written before the first meeting.

Precedent. Before Festus, Paul did not argue the merits — he named the forum: Caesarem appello. Choosing who hears a matter, and in what order the offices are approached, has decided more cases than the argument that follows.

Pre-litigation resolution

Most matters are decided before anyone files. The side with the organised record sets the terms; the other reacts. We build the record first and open the correspondence second.

What you get. Correspondence, a settlement architecture, and a walk-away number fixed before the first letter goes out — so the decision to stop is made in advance, not in the moment.

Precedent. Roman procedure had a point of no return. At litis contestatio the claim was consumed: whatever followed, it could never be brought again. Everything before that moment was negotiation, and the Romans negotiated by transactio — a settlement that barred the action outright.

Cross-border enforcement strategy

A judgment you cannot collect is a cost. Recovery is mapping and sequencing long before it is law: where assets sit, under which structures, in which order, and which forum will recognise the order you already hold.

What you get. An asset map by jurisdiction, the recognition route for each, and an order of moves that does not warn the other side too early.

Precedent. Rome kept a second praetor — the praetor peregrinus, from 242 BC — precisely because disputes crossed borders and the citizens' civil law did not reach them. And judgment was never the end of it: the actio iudicati was a fresh action, brought where the debtor and his property actually were.
